Divorce Counseling

Find Clarity. Move Forward.

Divorce can be one of life’s most difficult situations to go through. Even the most amicable of divorces can rock your foundation and leave you feeling lost and vulnerable. Divorce counseling helps people deal with all the changes–relationship, family, emotional, legal, and logistical–that happen in the divorce process.

While most people wouldn’t think twice about seeking legal counsel, what about counseling for the emotional and mental stressors that arise during divorce? Many clients have described it as an emotional roller coaster. Divorce counseling teaches clients to cope on day-to-day basis.

Divorce Counseling Helps You Navigate the Emotional Process

I guide my clients through the divorce process in a unique way designed to minimize stress and conflict, maintain optimal health, and gain a deeper perspective of the breakdown of the marriage. My clients have repeatedly expressed that they’ve grown tremendously through the divorce counseling process and are grateful that they had my support along the way.

Friends and family have the best intentions in mind and can offer invaluable support, but just as they can’t substitute for legal counsel, there are limitations to the level of support and guidance they can provide from a mental and emotional health perspective.

When you’re in a vulnerable state, you’re much more susceptible to influence. There’e a limit to how many should haves, would haves, and could haves you can tolerate. Well intended suggestions like, “You should just find someone else,” or, “Just give it time…he/she will realize what they lost and come back,” can add further insult to injury and encourage unhealthy thought patterns and behaviors.

How Divorce Counseling Works

How the counseling process works will vary with each marriage. Since each marriage and related issues are unique, so is the guidance and support you’ll need during the divorce process.

Some clients come to me seeking guidance when they have decided to divorce and want guidance and support with the decisions involved. Others come in once the divorce has begun because they feel overwhelmed by emotional, mental, physical, and/or financial stress they’re experiencing.

I help both individuals and spouses navigate the process of divorce in a way that’s designed to ease the emotional discomfort so that you can make sound decisions about your future.

We will take a problem/solution focused approach with the goal of bringing about resolution with minimal pain and unnecessary conflict. All of the important issues will be addressed including child custody, visitation, finances, and life after divorce.

A Stronger and More Focused You

As painful as divorce can be, it also has the potential to be a powerful teaching experience. Unless we learn from our experiences, we are destined to repeat them.

Having the support and guidance from an experienced divorce recovery therapist will help assure that you’re making well informed decisions from a sound and stable place.

A setback is merely a setup for a COMEBACK. Now is the time to harness that wisdom and emerge with a clear vision and sound perspective.
