You’ve probably heard ‘The Starfish Story’ before. You know, the one where a small child is picking up beached starfish and tossing them back into the ocean after a storm. An elderly passerby tell the child that there are so many starfish and she can’t possibly be making a difference to all of them. The child tosses one back into the ocean and declares, “I made a difference to that one.”
This is what I love best about what I do. We are all stranded starfish on a beach at one time or another, and sometimes, all we need is some help to get where we need to be.
I realize that I can’t help everyone, but for the ones that I can, it is so incredibly rewarding to be making a difference with who I can.
I’m a small practice and like to keep things as simple as possible.
When you’re reaching out for help only to have to weed through layers of red tape, it can be disheartening and discouraging. I want my clients to feel comfortable and empowered throughout the process.
This Labor Day, I’m grateful for the work that I do, and the people I’ve connected with along the way. I hope to keep making a difference for as long as I’m able.
